Many insurance companies offer an additional discount when you add fire protection to your home.

Already have a smoke detector?

Did you know your smoke detector alone would not signal the fire department unless a security company, like Omega Security, monitors it?

Many homes include smoke detectors, but this equipment is only designed to make a sound that will hopefully alert residents of a fire.

62% of home fire deaths resulted from fires in homes with smoke detectors that were not working or homes without smoke detectors. –NFPA

Smoke alarms sounded in only half of the home fires reported to U.S. fire departments in 2005-2009.

Without monitoring, your system will fail if any of the following occur:

  • The battery for the smoke detector is drained
  • Residents are not home when the smoke detector is activated
  • No one in the home hears the smoke alarm

In all of these cases, your home and loved ones will be at risk.

Omega Security offers 24 hour monitored fire protection that will:

  • Automatically signal the fire department in case of a fire emergency
  • Automatically call you if there is an emergency when you are away from home
  • Alert residents if the battery for wireless smoke detector is low
  • Alert residents of any faulty equipment
  • Potentially save you money off your homeowners insurance
  • Decrease the risk of injury or death for your loved ones
  • Decrease property damage in case of fire

Formulating a Fire escape plan is crucial in case of fire where every second may be the difference between life and death. Learn how with the following video.

When smoke is detected at any one of the protected locations in your home, the detector will send a message to your control panel, which will then cause all the evacuation horns to sound. The panel will then relay the emergency signal to our alarm monitoring center where the message is received. The monitoring center may call to verify the signal. The local fire department is then notified, so that help is on the way, whether you are home or away.

  1. Smoke is detected
  2. The detector sends the alarm to the security control panel
  3. The control panel dials and sends the signal to your security service, where trained professionals may call to verify the alarm
  4. The fire department is then notified, and help is on the way

What is Carbon Monoxide and How Can it Harm Consumers?

Carbon monoxide (CO) is an odorless, colorless, tasteless and highly toxic gas that is produced when fuels such as wood, gasoline, charcoal and oil are burned with insufficient air. The majority of residential and commercial fatalities caused from these fuels come from heating systems, engine powered tools and charcoal grills. Carbon monoxide is harmful when inhaled because it displaces oxygen in the blood and deprives the heart, brain and other vital organs of oxygen. Large amounts of CO can overcome a person in minutes without warning—causing them to lose consciousness and suffocate.
